What is BelieveHers?

 

Although, on it’s surface, it appears to just be another small online school for Muslim women; BelieveHers Academy is an opportunity for all women (whether Muslimah or seeker) to gain clear knowledge of Islam from authentic sources, especially for those who are in places where there are no classes or guidance available. Beyond this, it focuses on developing a connection with the knowledge by linking BelieveHers (and SeekHers) with a person not a program, who can relate to the modern-day challenges of learning and practicing Islam in the west today.

To accomplish this, BelieveHers Academy provides education, training, counseling, and connection. This is all delivered with the understanding that dry education can work, but isn’t the best approach for everyone. Some people need to be able to speak and listen to a live teacher who can answer questions unique to their personal experience with Islam and develop a connection with their teacher and consequently with their education. If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to learn and experience Islam and connect with others like you, welcome to that opportunity!

Our Goal and Mission

We know this is where we’re supposed to wow you with professionally crafted buzz words like “empower hearts” and “inspire generations,” but this isn’t that kind of academy. Although we hope to empower hearts and inspire generations to come, those generic words don’t capture the true essence of what the academy was formed to accomplish.

Before our founder and instructor, Sister Zarinah, began studying Islamic courses at the university level, she was lost in a sea of questions. With no answers, she bunched all her questions into one essential question: Where do I start?! She reached out to the local scholars she had access to and the answers they provided, were well intended but, led her down a rabbit hole of courses that eventually forced her to keep looking, until she ended up where she is now. 

The experience of trying to find out where to start was, in hindsight, unnecessarily overwhelming. While taking the steps to learn the little she now knows she kept coming across a lot of self-paced, prerecorded/pdf style, “dry” programs. (It should be said that this new-age method is truly a blessing when it comes to reaching millions across the globe and allowing individuals to learn at their own pace as well as extending scholars’ reach pass their own life-span. May Allaah reward everyone involved in providing guidance!) Sister Zarinah couldn’t find any programs that allowed her to talk, question and relate to her teacher without traveling to attend a seminar. Thus a mission was born! 

Our goal is to provide all seeking women with an opportunity to learn, believe, strengthen their faith and live what they gain by personally connecting them with teachers and students on the same path; facing the same challenges.
